About this experience

The Canadian Firearms Safety Course is a requirement for anyone wanting to own, buy or possess a non-restricted shotguns and rifles for the purposes of hunting, sport shooting, or collecting.

The course will start at 8:30am *sharp* and continue until 4:30pm. After which there is a written and practical exam. The written test can be done as a group, the practical exam needs to be done one-on-one with the instructor. Each practical exam takes about 20 – 30 minutes per person. Some tests can be done at the Marsh after the class or at the Manitoba Wildlife Federation office in Winnipeg located at 4-999 King Edward Street during the following week, depending on the instructor's availability.

A government issued photo ID is required for this class (Driver’s license, Passport, Treaty card, or Citizenship card). Everyone will get 15 minutes at noon to grab lunch from the Oak Hammock Marsh café or to grab your bagged lunch.

Oak Hammock Marsh is one of North America’s birding hotspots and a great destination for people of all ages. This 36km2 Wildlife Management Area features a restored prairie marsh, aspen-oak bluff, waterfowl lure crops, artesian springs, some of Manitoba’s last remaining patches of tall-grass prairie and 30 kilometers of trails for you to explore.
