How’s It Made?

Handcrafted from art glass, we create the Wild Rose Standup using multiple steps. First, we roll a slab of clay to the appropriate size. Next, we pressed a flower cutting gently into the clay, creating a realistic and natural texture. We dry the clay slabs, ensuring they remain perfectly flat. Once dry, we bisque fire the clay to be used as a casting mold for the glass.

We cut and polish the glass to the appropriate size. Next, we use coloured glass powders and frits to accent the details in the textured clay mold. Once the colours have been applied, we carefully place the sheet glass overtop and place the casting mold into the kiln.

We kiln fire the glass, allowing the frits and the sheet glass to fuse together. The colour is the glass itself; you won’t ever have to worry about the colour fading or washing off. During the firing, we anneal the glass. Because of this, we increase the strength and durability of the glass, so you know it will last for as long as you own the Wild Rose Standup fused glass art.
